Hardware Operations Manager - Saint-Ghislain

This position will be based near Saint-Ghislain, Hainault, Belgium

Google's Hardware Operations team consists of diverse, upbeat, creative, team-oriented engineers and managers who design and operate some of the most sophisticated Data Center systems in the world. This fast-growing group develops, builds and supports the physical infrastructure behind Google's products.

The role: Hardware Operations Manager - Saint-Ghislain
Based in Saint-Ghislain, Hainault, Belgium you will be responsible for leading one of Google's largest Data Center operations outside the US.

In addition to managing operations, strategy and budgets in the maintenance, deployment, upgrade and optimization of IT Infrastructure you will be expected to engage at a technical level. You will also be tasked with developing local managers and their teams in facilitating scalable growth for the Saint-Ghislain operations.

Responsibilities:
Oversee the day to day management of datacentre operations.
Work with the full operations group and with Google's strategic planners to help design each new generation of our computing and network architecture.
Manage multiple ongoing and parallel projects, tracking to priorities and shifting tactical technology changes.
Hire, coach and develop a team of managers and technical staff to meet company objectives.
Manage communications with third parties and local interest groups.
Requirements:
Third level IT related qualification (KT/LT/Bachelor/Hogeschool/Diplom).
Experience managing managers/team leads and technical teams.
Experience with Linux/Unix system administration.
Understanding of facilities equipment requirements for high-availability data centres.
Solid understanding of server hardware architecture, maintenance, and repair.
Management experience in datacentres or server farm infrastructure.
Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
