Multilingual Language Lead - Localization

The Company currently has vacancies at their Rio de Janeiro offices for Multilingual Language Leads (MLL) who will have overall responsibility for the linguistic quality of the final localized product of all languages within their Business Unit, offering linguistic input and managing/leading the language/quality process.

Interfacing with their business unit, managers and external contacts, the MLLs will work closely with Project Managers to support complex client projects across a number of domains, developing and maintaining those relationships by providing superior service as well as industry, technical and tactical expertise in all linguistic areas of the project. They will also bridge the divide between the Solutions Development team and the production/execution team by ensuring the appropriate linguistic tools are deployed to maximum effect:

The principal responsibilities of the role will centre on:

• Analysis of source material/content in order to identify linguistic requirements and define strategy/workflow/best practices for client projects.
• Advice to the team regarding implementation of linguistic and technical tools (such as LQC) in order to enhance the linguistic process.
• Management of the QA process in order to achieve client quality expectations – determining QA model and steps, defining sample size, coordinating troubleshooting, and performing spot checking when needed.
• Providing advice to internal team regarding TM maintenance strategy
• Preparing language vendor kits/instructions for all languages and providing details on language-issues preventive actions.
• Coordinating the creation and/or customization of style guides for clients.
• Coordinating the compilation and update of client/domain glossaries.
• Dealing with queries from vendors (through PMs) –researching/solving issues.
• Providing input to vendor qualification to ensure appropriate skills match.
• Dealing with quality complaints – analysis of causes and proposal of corrective actions
• Interfacing with clients and taking the lead on linguistic issues at client/project meetings.

The ideal candidate will have the following profile:

• University Degree with a background on Information Technology, Computing, Computational Linguistics, Language/Translation/Terminology Studies or any equivalent degree/title awarded by an international renowned institution.
• 4+ years’ relevant linguistic experience (translation, review, quality assurance, etc).
• Proven experience in managing terminology tools: glossaries, style guides, query management.
• Deep understanding and knowledge of language related issues and technologies.
• Good knowledge of TRADOS suite of tools. Knowledge of other CAT tools and language-applied software packages will be a plus.
• Solid understanding of localization workflows, tools and processes specifically related to Language service offerings and their impact into L10N practices.
• Ability to deal with clients understanding their needs.
• Strong computer skills including PC and proficiency and familiarity with Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, e-mail, and Internet
• Ability to multi-task in a time sensitive and deadline driven work environment and stay cool under pressure
• Very analytical and proven organizational skills

• Adaptable and flexible to changing work environment
• Ability to work within a team environment
• Fluent in two or more languages (including English)
• Must have excellent communication and time-management skills.
