Business Unit Manager - Localization

Our client is a long-established and globally-consolidated Translation and Localization services provider, delivering leading-edge language management business solutions to enterprises in the TMT, Life Sciences and Manufacturing sectors worldwide. The Company’s on-demand web-based platform coupled with their vertical expertise and regionally-centralised multilingual operations help clients optimize global business development strategies adapted to local markets through industry best practices.

The Company currently has vacancies at their Rio de Janeiro offices for a Business Unit Manager who will be responsible for managing the team delivering translation and localization-related services within one of the Company’s defined verticals. The key deliverables of the role are:

• Managing all stakeholders to ensure an effective operation

• Achieving best practice in all aspects of the business through innovation and continuous improvement

The principal functions of the role will be centred on :

• Managing a team of project management professionals and technical experts in order to make sure they perform according to the account’s specific procedures, meeting/exceeding the client's expectations.
• Creating and reviewing clear, achievable goals to BU members to maximize their performance and promote career paths
• Overseeing all translation and localization projects to make sure they are delivered on time at agreed upon quality levels.
• Driving communication, development planning and performance management within the business unit.
• Managing the design and implementation of appropriate solutions to deliver profitable projects, with a focus on maximizing project Gross Margin, driving efficiency and increasing productivity
• Managing customer relationship with key clients in order to ensure client satisfaction, anticipating and addressing any issues and allow business revenue growth.
• Ensuring complete understanding of company service offerings and knowledge of external industry practices with a focus on continuous improvement.
• Working with the executive team and influencing the overall business strategic direction, profitability, and growth.
• Contributing to the development of business proposals. Playing a leading role in presenting proposals to target clients and senior management teams.
• Delivering the budgetted monthly revenue and GM
• Working with the team to build a strong partnership with sales, developing good client relationships and growing the business

The ideal candidate will have the following profile:

• BA/BSc in Business or equivalent combination of education and experience
• 5+ years of experience in senior project management roles (or equivalent) within the localization industry.
• Proven experience in people management
• Management of localization projects.
• Demonstrated knowledge of operational management, including but not limited to financial and staff management, policy and procedure development

• Understanding of Localization Industry trends and technologies
• Commercial perspective
• Customer Relationship Management skills
• Excellent English. Other main European languages an advantage.
• Demonstrated people management skills (Staff coaching, empowerment and development;
• Motivational skills and ability to create an open climate promoting staff creativity, initiative, and positive communication with team members and other departments)
• Skills in management of performance standards and incentive programs that increase morale & productivity
• Ability to work with and communicate effectively with colleagues and peers discussing improvements, solving problems, and following through with implementing solutions.
• Ability to confront staff issues and convert them into opportunities for motivation
• Proven customer relations track record.
• Excellent presentation & interpersonal skills
• Ability to work without direct supervision
• Ability to diagnose processes and transform them to add value for the Company
• Ability to understand client needs and add value to client process
• Commercial, negotiating and financial skills to control costs and maximise profitability
• Proactive and solution driven, results-oriented attitude
