Linux System Admin

Richmond Recruitment are currentl seeking a Linux System
Administrator for a leading Cork company.

JOB PURPOSE

You will be responsible for installing software, applying patches, manage file systems, monitoring performance and troubleshoot alerts from commercial, open source and locally developed monitoring tools. Also providing technical support and general troubleshooting for 100+ servers in a 24x7 data centre and to manage and lead hardware and software migration and upgrade efforts of varying size and complexity.



MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES



· System failure analysis and recovery; insuring the consistency and integrity of file systems.

· Business continuity planning;

· Hardware/software configuration; and management

· Liaison with professional services teams, operations personnel, and field service personnel

· Understands internal/external client; may require awareness of external trends and best practices.

· Writes and presents reports, contracts and/or proposals for internal and/or external audiences.

· Able to makes decisions and recommendations on issues affecting a project or client base.

· Help manage 100+ servers running RedHat Linux

· Able to serve as a mentor/developmental advisor and/or training resource to less experienced staff, providing an example with regard to quality of work.

· Follows departmental procedures to complete work, but may recommend changes to departmental processes.



PERSON SPECIFICATION



· In-depth knowledge of RedHat, KickStart, Nagios, Bind, iptables, nfs

· You must have systems maintenance experience in a UNIX / Linux data centre environment

· Strong experience with system management tools, logical file systems, and client/server environments.

· In-depth hardware configuration knowledge

· Shell programming and/or scripting language expertise

· Network experience

· Strong troubleshooting skills

· Demonstrated initiative and team work competencies

· Ability to communicate technical issues
