Market Manager (business development) - Barcelona

Our client, a highly renowned, global online travel agency, has a range of recognised branded travel products and services that cater for leisure and corporate travelers worldwide.
Barcelona based, though working closely with colleagues in Madrid and across the company, the Market Manager will be liaising with internal and external contacts to own and grow the assigned market(s) profitability through the acquisition and the management of inventory, prices and supplier relationships.
Key areas of responsibility:
1) Building and developing the team, including sharing best practice and preparing and presenting high quality Market Business Reviews (MBR) supporting the market needs and trends.
2) Consumer and supplier focused / friendly, ensuring overall market rate competitiveness and market inventory level by exceeding the overall demand throughout the market.
3) Consumer focused / friendly, ensuring overall market rate competitiveness, including negotiating and securing market deals, exclusive promotions and dynamic rate rules, and negotiating and finalizing all renewals, meeting regional goals and targets.
4) Supplier focused / friendly, developing strong internal and external relationship, meeting supplier needs and conducting regular and relevant market visits to meet targets and objectives.
5) Build operational excellence, including verifying and analysing data, feeding back on quality; ensuring all
in-house tools and databases are used to their full potential, and training and developing all suppliers on relevant processes and tools.
6) Meet revenue growth goal for the market, including prospecting new suppliers / hotels and negotiating contracts to ensure competitive rates, allotments and cut offs.
Summary
Responsible for the revenue growth of a segment of business - but with no direct selling outlets into the markets. The Market Manager’s resources to achieve the above goals include team members, hotels and contracts, marketing tools, relationship building, Senior Management support and your own sales and negotiating ability.
Requirements / Qualifications:
• College Degree or equivalent and/or solid work experience in international Tour Operation hotel contracting.
• Strong analytical, organisation, communication and people skills required.
• Working knowledge of revenue/account management preferred.
• Team leader and team player.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
• Ability to work and thrive in a multi-tasked and fast-paced environment.
• Professional “get it done” attitude and work ethic.
• Fluent in English, Spanish and Catalan.
