Business Development Manager / Hydropower / East Sussex

We have an excellent opportunity for a candidate with the enthusiasm and ability to play a prominent role in the development of business for the Energy Division of an 'employee owned' management, engineering and development consultancy.

The hydro team is based in Brighton, East Sussex and as Business Development Manager (BDM) you will be required to expand the range and size of the company's hydro business in the UK and other worldwide markets. You will be expected to assist in the growth of a dynamic UK based team providing a range of hydro related services to clients worldwide. Additionally the BDM will be expected to form close relationships with internal contacts and external organisations to win business for the group.

As a senior member of the hydro team the BDM would expect to become a respected member of the senior management team and would have every opportunity for promotion as the team grew.

You will ideally be familiar with the hydroelectric power market and have a thorough understanding of a wide range of the technical disciplines so that you can provide sensible responses to clients' problems and issues. Ideally you will have a proven track record in winning work. Good people skills and excellent literacy skills are prime requirements as you will be required to persuasively convey the benefits of employing the company to potential clients. It is expected that the BDM would work as part of the multi-disciplinary hydro division alongside engineers of various disciplines.

A first degree in an appropriate discipline is essential for this role and ideally you will have membership of an appropriate professional institution. The ability to analyse and develop business development strategies based on an understanding of the requirements of the market is key, together with a positive must win attitude.

Overseas travel would be expected including visits to remote locations. Visits would normally be of 1-2 weeks duration.

A competitive salary package circa £60 - £80k + car is being offered, plus benefits in keeping with the company status as an International Engineering and Management Consultancy.
