Interested in assisting young people in their first steps toward living independently?
A local authority close to Birmingham is setting up a new service and is interested in appointing 2 Social Workers with experience in working with teenagers from a disadvantaged background, who are placed either in foster families or in residential homes. The team will be quite small and is set within Children and Family Service.
You would be working alongside children in Aftercare, so care leavers from 16 years onwards. Main task is to assess individual needs, set up plans regarding their future including relationships, education/employment, financial support, accommodation and to provide pathway plans for their future.
Requirements:
- High level of written and spoken English and lots of enthusiasm
- Degree in Social Pedagogy or Social Work
- Experience in working with young people (ideally in Aftercare)
- A driving license and the willingness to drive in the UK
