ICT Technician/1st Line Support - Guildford

My Guildford based client is currently looking for an ICT Technician

To provide first-line and routine technical support to all ICT users and assist the IT Manager in administrating, maintaining & developing the Company's ICT systems.

You will be able to perform the following duties:

Maintain & monitor effective systems for recording and monitoring technical support requests
Provide first-line technical support as required to all users of ICT
Troubleshoot problems and, where possible, implement suitable remedies
Liaise fully with line manager and seek additional guidance & advice as necessary
Carry out routine maintenance and upgrades as directed
Attend to installation and configuration of new ICT hardware
Provide assistance with installing, customising & configuring new software to client PCs
Assist with the management of telephony systems to meet the needs of users
Assist with the maintenance of security, virus protection, filtering and backup systems
Assist with the installation of updates and additional network software as required

Maintain appropriate records of all installed software and user licences
Maintain appropriate records of ICT warrantees and support agreements
Maintain an accurate register of ICT fixed assets
Support the maintenance of a portable appliance testing database
Assist colleagues in obtaining supplies of ICT consumables on a best value basis
Assist in maintaining up-to-date documentation of the Company's ICT infrastructure
Produce help sheets and reference guides for staff use
Provide basic induction training to new staff
Provide ad-hoc coaching to staff with specific application problems
Assist with the provision of formal IT training programme
Research and report on new hardware, systems, procedures and software as from time to time required
Assist the IT Manager in planning & implementing major ICT upgrades and development projects

To be aware of company policies and procedures
To at all times uphold the ICT Policy and report any infringements
To attend relevant training courses and participate in staff development initiatives to improve knowledge and working practice.
Keep abreast of and respond to changes in new technology and legislation
Work collaboratively with colleagues and help promote effective working relations between all the various staff groups
Carry out ad-hoc projects as from time to time required
Deputise for the IT Manager in his/her absence
