WAKING NIGHT SUPPORT WORKER (22 hours) - DUNBLANE - ATTRACTIVE SALARY & BENEFITS

CLIENT - client is a well established national service provider for adults with Prader-Willi Syndrome/learning disabilities. We are a progressive organisation with fantastic growth plans for the future.

THE ROLE - Waking Night Support Worker - Reporting to the Home Manager - The prime concern of Waking Night Support Worker is for the health and welfare of the resident, the provision of a supportive environment based on a respect for and understanding of those in their care and a compliance with principles and policies. Directly responsible to the Home Manager, the Waking Night Support Worker role and tasks will be wide and varied and will embrace both the needs and support an individual resident may require and the necessary standards for the health and safety of the resident. A full driving licence is desirable.

RESPONSIBILITIES

At commencement of shift, all relevant information will be handed over to Waking Night Support Worker by the senior person on shift.
Secure the house by locking all external doors. Ensure that door keys are in place for immediate use, in the event of the need for evacuation of the house.
Patrol the house at regular intervals ad directed by the Home Manager
To be familiar with the requirements of the Health and Safety Act 1974 and, in particular, action to be taken in the event of fire.
To care for service users who may be sitting up late and ensure they are in bed safely when they retire.
To support service users with toileting/bathing needs, as required.
To accompany service users to other locations, when required (e.g. hospital)
To carry out laundry work and repair of service users' clothing, bedding, etc
To carry out domestic cleaning work, as directed, when time allows.
To carry out domestic cleaning work during the service users' annual holiday.
To assist with the preparation of service users' breakfasts and drinks.

PERSON SPEC - higher weighting more important

*10 -Capacity to communicate both verbally and in writing
*10 - Positive attitude, passion and willingness to develop skills within Support Worker role
*10 - Driving licence is essential
*9 - SVQ in Social Care
*9 - Knowledge of learning disabilities/Prader-Willi Syndrome
*9 - Flexibility to work shift patterns
*8 -To be person-centred
*8 -Good interpersonal skills
*8 - oral/written communication skills
*8 - Basic laundering/sewing skills
*7 - Demonstrate commitment to the values of the company
*7 -To be assertive and confident
