Middleware System Administrator

IT Infrastructure is the operational IT department within this bank. The department controls business IT processes, and services the total IT Infrastructure. IT Infrastructure is organised regionally with the main regional centres located in Utrecht, London, Sydney, Singapore, and New York.

Job Description

Middleware System Administrator with WebSphere MQSeries multi-platform experience. The primary responsibility will be to manage the WebSphere MQSeries Infrastructure and other data/file transfer solutions within a multi-platform infrastructure (Unix Sun Solaris, Unix AIX, Unix Linux and Microsoft).

Responsibilities include:

Specifying, configuring and implementing WebSphere MQ-series;

Day-to-day support of the WebSphere MQSeries environments;

Providing technical support to development & infrastructure projects;

Providing production support, 7am-7pm on shift basis;

Providing overnight on-call support on a rota basis;

Maintaining full documentation of systems, fault resolutions, and incident investigations;

Testing of new software releases, patches and upgrades;

Liasing with other technical support teams (UNIX, Windows, DBA, development, etc.);

Liasing with development groups to ensure standards are adhered to;

Establishing effective lines of communications.

Job Requirements

The candidate should have at least 3 years IBM WebSphere MQSeries management experience on a multiplatform environment.

BA degree in Information Technology

Essential Skills:

IBM WebSphere MQSeries administration;

Linux Red Hat, SUN Solaris and Microsoft Windows basic System Administration;

Awareness of multi-platform environments;

Shell scripting.

Desirable Skills:

IBM WebSphere Software Suite;

NDM / Connect:Direct;

Tivoli OMEGAMOM (Candle) or other tool for monitoring and administration of WebSphere MQ-series;

IT Security;

Experience of building OpenSource software;

Capacity & Performance Monitoring & Management;

Methodical fault finding.
