Purpose of the role  

Colas Ltd. have an exciting opportunity for a Engineer to join the Asset team based in Portsmouth (PO6 1TA). Reporting to the Asset Manager, you will be responsible for producing the life cycle replacement forward programmes report, SCANNER, NCI AND FCI surveyable network, you will also be responsible for the maintenance of the asset register and PMS Network by carrying out the network changes task. You will be involved in the preparation of Project Engagement Document for Pavement condition survey contractors.

Main Responsibilities  

As an Engineer for the Asset team, you will be required to carry out safety audits as laid down by line management, you will supervise the skid accident investigation analysis and report and coordinate the mapping and publishing of relevant asset data on to Colas GIS online and Explorer. You will be responsible with maintaining all the inventory shapefiles and the database information on the adopted and category 2 network in the asset register. You will update proactive maintenance network rounds and safety inspection areas and zones. You will carry out all network changes (involving creating new or deleting old and amending existing shapefile using GIS) and updating the pavement strategy. You will supervise the following: overbanding (carck sealing) and works report, CVI and DVI network investigation and analysis report and deflection network investigation and analysis report. To ensure that all work is carried out to Company Safety, Environmental, and Quality standards and to regularly communicate with staff and operatives on these matters. Deputies for Asset Manager as when required. To carry out other appropriate duties as assigned by your line manager. To ensure that all operations carried out within your area of responsibility are undertaken with full regard for safety of visitors, other members of staff and yourself. To ensure compliance with the Company’s Quality Assurance procedures In order to deliver the service effectively, a degree of flexibility is needed, and the post holder may be required to perform work not specifically referred to above. Such duties, however, will fall within the scope of the post.

Ideal Candidate  

The ideal candidate will have around a years experience within the Highways sector. We are also open to a Graduate who will have the right attitude towards working and learning the role. You will have great communication skills and be proficient at using Microsoft Office Suites, in particular Excel.

A driving licence is essential for this role as you will be required to travel to different sites within the Portsmouth area.
