Requirements
Energy Engineer:  This is where you come in.
We are seeking an entry level Energy Engineer to join MacDonald Miller as a member of our growing engineering team. The energy engineers support the Performance Contracting (PC) team, which focuses on optimization and energy efficiency of existing buildings. In this role you will perform ASHRAE Level I & II audits assessing, identifying, and analyzing energy savings opportunities in existing buildings, develop scopes of work for identified Energy Efficiency Measures (EEMs), analyze building operation via building DDC trending and/or deploying data loggers, calculate energy savings for identified EEMs, assist with Measurement and Verification plans, and help work to secure available incentives, rebates, and grants.  You will assist the Senior Energy Engineers with various reports and calculations, such as Benchmark reports, Preliminary Scoping Assessments, Preliminary Audits, and Investment Grade Audits. You will attend customer meetings and be prepared to assist the Senior Energy Engineer in presenting findings and proposed EEMs directly to the customer. You will also have a basic understanding of the Washington State Clean Buildings Performance Standard and be familiar with the compliance requirements.
Learn and keep up to date on industry standards, laws and regulations related to Energy Engineering and PC. Become familiar with Washington State Department of Enterprise Services (DES) regulations and procedures.

Assist Senior Energy Engineers and Design Engineers on conducting Energy Audits, Benchmarks, and performing energy saving calculations.
Perform Preliminary Scoping Assessment/Preliminary Audit, Seattle Building Tune-ups, or assist on an Investment Grade Audit as assigned, in a timely fashion. Become familiar with the upcoming Seattle Building Emissions Performance Standard (BEPS).
Help develop tools and processes to expedite the development of reports/Investment Grade Audits. 
Be aware of hourly budgets and complete tasks within the allotted hours.

Your background:  What kind of person will thrive in this role? 
You should have…
A Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Energy Engineering, or related field. A degree is strongly preferred but an outstanding candidate who possesses equivalent work experience that provides a reasonable understanding of PC projects will be considered.
Zero to two years of experience in auditing buildings (ASHRAE Level I & II Audits), gathering relevant trend and drawing information, and performing energy calculations utilizing excel.
Writing reports and delivering presentations to internal customers.
Some knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection and building control systems.
A goal of obtaining a Professional Engineer (PE) license is strongly preferred.
The goal of obtaining a Certified Energy Manager (CEM) Certification from the Association of Energy Engineers is strongly preferred.
The goal of becoming a Certified Measurement and Verification Professional (CMVP) from the Association of Energy Engineers is preferred.
Some familiarity with Washington Clean Buildings Standard requirements and implementation timelines.
Proficiency in working on multiple projects of diverse sizes and complexities, and consistently being productive and meeting deadlines.
Experience in Microsoft Suite of programs: Excel, Word, & MS Project

Benefits
Compensation: $80,000 to $105,000 Annually

Where you will work
Our Seattle HQ office (17930 International Blvd, SeaTac, WA 98188) has easy access to the SeaTac International Airport, ample secured parking, and newly renovated office facilities - not to mention great views! Neighborhood amenities include an onsite deli, restaurants, and convenient freeway/airport access. We use a hybrid work arrangement, where engineers are expected to be in the office at least two days per week. The days in the office will be the same standard days of the week when other members of our team will be there. Remote work is allowed for the other three.
