Location: Uttoxeter – Elkes Biscuits
Salary: £51,500+ overtime Or
Continental Shift Pattern: 4 on 4 off (07:00am to 07:00pm/ 07:00pm to 07:00am), rotating days and nights Or Monday-Friday 07:30 to 16:30
About Us:
Elkes Biscuits are currently recruiting for several experienced Electrical Shift Technicians to join our growing Engineering team.
Elkes Biscuits has real heritage in both the local area and within the industry. In the early 1900s Samuel Elkes opened a confectionery shop in Uttoxeter and in 1928 a purpose-built biscuit factory was opened on the current site.
We produce own label biscuits to all the major retailers including Tesco, Asda, Morrisons, Marks and Spencer, Sainsbury’s, Aldi, and Lidl in addition to the Elkes brand.
2023 has been an amazing year for the company. We have had a significant investment into our site and operations, have secured new customers and are positioned to make 2024 our best year ever.
About the Role:
Reporting into the Engineering Shift Manager, this Electrical Shift Technician role will play an essential part in supporting our daily operations. Working alongside a team of five experienced Engineers, duties of the role will include:
* Providing technical support to the shift engineering team, reactive and proactive engineering work as required.
* Acting as shift senior in Electrical engineering – supporting the wider Engineering team.
* Providing hands on technical support whenever necessary to reduce engineering downtime and deliver maintenance plans.
* Carrying out root cause analysis on worst performing assets and owning any actions generated to improve results.
* Coordinating, planning, and delivering training to engineers to develop knowledge and capabilities across the team.
* Owning and maintaining the Preventative and Planned maintenance schedules in line with OEE KPI’s.
This will be a role where no two days are the same, where your efforts will be recognised and will have an impact on the wider business. Each day provides variety, and an opportunity to learn and develop your skills.
About You:
For these Electrical Shift Technician roles, we are seeking Electrically biased Engineers with a strong track record of success within manufacturing environments and PLC knowledge. Ideally you will have experience of food manufacturing processes, but this is not essential.
Ideally, your application will demonstrate the following:
* Time served Electrical Engineer
* A good understanding of PLC SOFTWARE Allen Bradley, Omron and Scada is essential.
* Confident in modification of PCL codes
* Strong ability to modify software if necessary and confident in reading Ladder Logic
* Experience in reading, modifying electrical drawings and schematics.
* Strong electrical fault-finding skills
* A good understanding of Electrical machine safety, and good knowledge of wiring categories.
* A strong understanding of electrical installations and inspection and testing
* Electrical systems and installation experience and training
* Excellent communicator
* Experience in training people
* Understanding of H&S, IOSH desirable
