Hays are working exclusively with a successful manufacturing business in South Norfolk to help the growth and restructure of their finance team. This company has over the past few years made various acquisitions and grown their client offering significantly. They are now seeking a commercially minded individual to join the finance team and help continue on an upward trajectory. They foster a culture of accountability and 'no blame', ensuring that everyone brings their best self to work in a supportive and collaborative environment.

Your new role
The role will report to a Financial Controller and be responsible for overseeing the preparation of the monthly management accounts, but will also work closely with operations to identify opportunities to maximise profitability and reduce costs. Specifically, you will be responsible for:

Monthly management accounts preparation
Working closely with IT to improve the quality of MI provided across the business and to ensure it is fit for purpose in shaping key stakeholder actions
Implement standard costing business-wide to improve commercial performance metrics
Contribute to the annual, quarterly or monthly budgeting and planning process
Analysing group performance against budgets and working with operations to drive stronger financial outcomes, while maintaining quality products and service
Calculate and post and bad debt and stock provisions
Monthly balance sheet reconciliations
Month-end and year-end journals
Produce and present financial reports for senior management to aid decision-making
This is a full-time role, working 37.5 hours per week between Monday and Friday. The exact work pattern can be flexible as long as it works in line with business needs.

What you'll need to succeed
You must have a solid understanding of monthly accounting principles and be able to communicate strongly with various internal stakeholders. You will have excellent IT and analytical skills, be able to manipulate and interrogate data and provide insight to senior management (both finance and non-finance staff). Ideally, you will be a qualified accountant or working towards your professional qualifications, but those qualified by experience will also be considered. Ideally, you will have worked in a manufacturing or production-based business before and be able to understand key concepts around product costings.
