Lead Electrical Engineer

This specialised firm, a division within a larger corporate group, operates globally as a control, monitoring, instrumentation, and handling company catering to the oil and gas sector. They specialise in high-integrity, fully integrated control systems, hydraulic power, and control systems, particularly designed for hazardous areas, with screen-based user interfaces.

The company is currently seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer to contribute expertise to the Engineering Team, responsible for designing, calculating, specifying, and requisitioning electrical equipment. The role also involves conducting comprehensive analyses of electrical designs to ensure the development of inherently safe systems.

Key Responsibilities:

* Serve as the leading engineering authority within the team, actively participating in the completion of engineering tasks.

* Develop specifications, designs, and documentation for systems and components, including electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.

* Produce specifications, select and procure materials and services.

* Apply engineering principles and technologies relevant to the oil and gas industry.

* Implement industry standards such as API, ABS, DNV, IECEx, and ATEX as necessary to guide the company in their application.

* Proficient in CAD for generating electrical drawings.

* Provide material costing information for project quotes and assess the cost and time implications of design decisions.

* Create Bills of Material.

* Conduct electrical interface design, including cable schedules, termination details, and cable layout diagrams.

* Generate instrumentation selection loop diagrams, PLC/SCADA I/O lists, instrumentation index, logic diagrams, and panel designs.

* Conduct conceptual and/or detailed design of instruments/control system applications.

* Perform cable and voltage drop calculations and prepare data sheets.

* Produce, execute, and analyze test specifications.

* Develop operation manuals, maintenance procedures, and other technical documents.

* Collaborate with clients, suppliers, and peers during day-to-day activities.

* Support offshore surveys, installation, commissioning, and fault-finding services, with occasional offshore travel.

* Mentor and support Engineers and Technicians during design, manufacturing, and testing activities.

* Work with the company to identify areas for improvement in products and gaps in meeting recognized standards.

* Technical report writing.

* Review engineering documentation.

Candidate Requirements:

The ideal candidate should possess a degree in an engineering discipline, preferably electrical, with substantial engineering experience and/or significant project experience, preferably within the oil industry. Additionally, the candidate should have a high level of expertise and demonstrate the following qualities:

* A highly professional approach and outlook to engineering.

* Significant expertise demonstrated through a track record of successfully executing Engineering Projects.

* Experience in overseeing fast-delivery projects from concept to completion.

* Well-organized and decisive with excellent communication and influencing skills.

* Drive and passion for innovation to support the company through the 'energy transition.'

* Motivation for improving project execution and developing other engineers.

Remuneration:

Up to £70K, depending on experience (DOE)
