Job Overview:We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Grower Accounting Manager to oversee all aspects of financial management related to agricultural operations. The Grower Accounting Manager will lead a team responsible for budgeting, forecasting, grower contract management, financial analysis, and reporting. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership abilities, deep knowledge of agricultural accounting principles, and a track record of success in managing financial operations in the agricultural industry.
Responsibilities:
Lead and supervise the grower accounting team, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure accurate and efficient financial operations.
Develop and implement financial strategies, policies, and procedures to optimize financial performance and support the achievement of organizational goals.
Oversee the budgeting and forecasting process for agricultural production, collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop accurate projections and plans.
Manage grower contracts and relationships, negotiating terms and agreements to maximize profitability and ensure compliance with financial obligations.
Analyze grower performance and financial metrics, identifying opportunities for cost reduction, process improvement, and revenue enhancement.
Prepare and present financial reports and analysis to senior management, highlighting key insights, trends, and opportunities for business growth.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards related to agricultural accounting and reporting.
Lead year-end financial audit processes, liaising with external auditors and providing necessary documentation and explanations.
Develop and maintain financial models and reporting tools to support decision-making and strategic planning initiatives.
Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory changes affecting agricultural accounting practices, and make recommendations accordingly.
Serve as a key point of contact for growers, addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and providing financial guidance and support as needed.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, procurement, and sales, to optimize production processes and maximize financial performance.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Agricultural Economics, or related field; Master's degree or CPA certification preferred.
5+ years of progressive experience in accounting, with a focus on agricultural accounting and financial management.
Strong leadership skills, with demonstrated experience in leading and developing a team.
In-depth knowledge of agricultural accounting principles, practices, and regulations.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a strategic mindset and attention to detail.
Proficiency in financial modeling, forecasting, and analysis.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle).
Experience with grower contracting, crop management, and agricultural production processes is highly desirable.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with growers, senior management, and cross-functional teams.
High level of integrity, professionalism, and discretion in handling sensitive financial information.
Willingness to travel as needed to meet with growers and visit production facilities.
