Examples of some of the projects we have worked on in this group include:
CTDOT Project 102-295 Replacement of I-95 over Saugatuck Avenue, Westport, CT:
The bridge carrying I-95 over Saugatuck Avenue was replaced utilizing Accelerated Bridge Construction methods (ie. lateral slide). The new superstructures were constructed on temporary supports adjacent to the existing structure. The new abutments were constructed under the end spans of the existing bridge with limited vertical clearance.  Over two separate weekend closures this past Fall, the preconstructed spans were slid into place, creating minimal disruption to I-95 traffic given the scale of the project.
CTDOT Project 135-301 MNR over Atlantic Street, Stamford, CT:
The bridge carrying five (5) active Metro-North tracks was replaced using Accelerated Bridge Construction methods.  The existing crossing was lengthened to accommodate a significant horizontal widening and vertical realignment of Atlantic Street. This award-winning project, successfully completed in 2020, included offsite superstructure prefabrication with movement to prepared substructures using self-propelled modular transporters (SPMT’s).
CTDOT Project 126-170 Commodore Hull Bridge Painting and Steel Repairs, Derby/Shelton, CT:
The existing bridge comprised of twelve (12) steel girder approach spans and three (3) steel truss main spans was modeled using Midas Civil software. The complex 3D finite element model was used to support the as-inspected and as-repaired load ratings, develop steel repairs to the truss members, analyze gusset plate connections and provide timely support during construction.
Ongoing projects:
Currently the Rocky Hill, CT structures group is working on multiple major railroad bridge replacement projects along the Metro-North corridor.
