Garment Designer
TRC Group are looking for a Creative Designer, on behalf of one of our long-standing clients, a leading supplier and distributor of apparel based in Crewe. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone to join a vibrant family-run business, where trust and honesty are at the core of their values.
Hours: Monday to Friday 8:30am-5pm – typically an early finish Friday, of 2:30pm
Salary: £23,800-£26,000 (DOE)
The Role
You will be joining the fast-paced product design team, primarily designing hosiery, reporting into the Managing Director.
You will be responsible for the following:
* Act as a leader and point-person for men's and women's hosiery apparel.
* Contribute to seasonal concept as it applies to category and translation to product.
* Responsible for time management of categories and adherence to our production calendar.
* Continually doing market and trend research, fabric R&D, and product innovation.
* Creating and maintaining CADS, sketches, and coloration of all styles within the apparel category.
* Communicating with vendors + cross-functional team partners.
* Preparing, organizing, and presenting during design milestone meetings.
* Maintaining and approving lab dips, fabric + trim developments, and artwork.
* Maintaining a seasonal calendar and meet all milestones.
* Working cross-functionally with all departments including, buying, marketing, merchandising, operations, and creative to ensure overall alignment.
* Eventually managing a direct report.
* Occasional travel to visit our manufacturing partners.
* Some weekends during busy periods, however, this is very occasional.
* Organize all development samples for range review, noting any changes for bulk to suppliers.
* Create sock, underwear, and gift box packaging artwork across all brands.
* Inspect Pre-Production and salesman samples to ensure packaging and all design elements are correct.
* Design and produce POS for stores and concessions, including light box posters, FDSUS, CDUs, posters, and tent cards.
About you:
* You will be a creative, IT Savvy, and organised individual with a passion for design.
* Previous design experience in apparel/hosiery is preferred.
* Proficient in Adobe Suite.
* Strong understanding of construction, fit, trims, and fabrics.
* Able to understand product life cycle and supply chain.
* Experience with overseas manufacturing.
