Location: Edenbridge, Kent
Salary: Up to £70,000 + 10% Annual Bonus
Our client are a leading engineering consultancy based in Kent, they are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to join their growing team. With a diverse portfolio that includes commercial, data centre, industrial, and residential projects, they are excited to announce their recent success in securing a high profile data centre project in London. This is a unique opportunity for a skilled engineer to play a pivotal role in delivering high-profile projects and shaping the future of their engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and manage mechanical design projects from concept through to completion, ensuring high standards of design, quality, and efficiency.
* Oversee and coordinate the work of a team of engineers and designers, providing mentorship and technical guidance.
* Develop detailed mechanical designs, including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
* Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure project requirements are met and expectations are exceeded.
* Prepare and review engineering calculations, drawings, and specifications.
* Conduct site visits and inspections to monitor progress, quality, and compliance with design specifications.
* Participate in project meetings, presenting design solutions and progress updates to clients and senior management.
* Assist in the preparation of bids and proposals, contributing to the growth and success of the business.
* Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices to continuously improve our design processes and solutions.

Qualifications and Experience:
* Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
* Chartered Engineer status (CEng) is preferred but not essential
* Minimum of 8 years of experience in mechanical design engineering, with a focus on commercial, data centre, industrial, and residential projects
* Proven track record of successfully delivering complex engineering projects
* Strong knowledge of relevant design standards, codes, and regulations
* Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and other relevant tools
* Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills
* Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
