We are searching for remote working experienced 3rd Line Infrastructure Engineer for a technology driven business which has offices and data centres based in Exeter, Cardiff, Newport and London. The role is offered on a remote and home working basis with visits, as and when required, to the above sites for planned works and to provide support for ongoing maintenance work.

You therefore need to be a car driver (with a full UK drivers' licence), with your own vehicle, to be considered for the position. Ideally you will be based in Southern England to enable you to travel to the above locations for onsite visits.

This is a technical role, and you will be ensuring the smooth running of a number of core IT hardware systems within the company. The successful candidate will work as part of a team, managing multiple concurrent tasks with varying technologies.

The role will involve, but will not be limited to:

Managing physical servers and storage infrastructure to ensure all systems function as required and meet the targeted Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
Ensuring internal and external applications and associated infrastructure are functioning correctly, by undertaking proactive monitoring and analysis, resolving problems and escalating as appropriate.
Working with other Analysts and Engineers to maintain information systems in accordance with agreed priorities and standards.
Keeping documentation up-to-date and, where required, assist in the provision of training and support to users - ensuring housekeeping procedures are adhered too.
Investigating user requirements for application and infrastructure changes, design and implement appropriate solutions.
Regularly analysing systems to ensure that they are capable for future planned capacity and functionality.
Supporting IT Development processes in the provision of new of improved products and services.
Ensuring the smooth functioning of the IT infrastructure; liaising with 1st and 2nd line teams, application support, developers, product managers, suppliers and other analysts as required.About You

You will have extensive and proven experience working within a technical support and implementation role as well as proven experience in providing third line support (3rd) in a similar field. You will be able to analyse problems and the determine the appropriate solutions.

You will also have:

Exposure to Open Source, Containerisation and DevOps methodologies (Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins or similar).
Experience of Linux OS maintenance, including software rollout procedures, backup software setup and management (RedHat Family and/or Ubuntu).
In-depth experience working in technical support encompassing varying hardware and software platforms.
Experience on providing helpdesk style technical support to internal and/or external users.
Ability to understand user requirements and translate into technical solutions.
Varied Windows and Linux Operating Systems administration skills.
Networking skills, including, LAN/WAN and Internet, strong TCP/IP skills are also required.
Experience of virtualisation technologies (VMware/KVM/QEMU/Xen).About Our Client
