Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service have an exciting opportunity for a Safe & Well Operative
to join the team.
Location: Alfreton Fire Station, Turnpike Business Park, Alfreton, DE55 7AD
Salary: £23,500 - £23,893 per annum (pro rata)
Job Type: Permanent
Hours: Normal working week is 18.5 hours, Wednesday pm, Thursday & Friday; however, you may occasionally need to work beyond normal office hours

Safe & Well Operative – The Role:
Working as part of the Prevention Department, the main purpose of the role is to provide Fire safety advice and fitting smoke alarms to the public, by delivering a high level of targeted intervention to those most at risk living within our communities.
Working to reduce fire deaths, injuries and emergency response across Derbyshire by engaging with households. It will be necessary to work with information technology and associated systems and to ensure accurate and timely recording of activity and reporting.
The successful applicant will be required to travel around the County of Derbyshire (Van provided from office base)
Safe & Well Operative – You:
- Ability to communicate at all levels
- Able to give guidance to householders on how to reduce the risk of fire and carry out Fire safety checks, which may involve the fitting of smoke alarms where necessary
- Have a non-judgmental, compassionate and open-minded approach as you will be required, on occasion, to work with vulnerable individuals who may be living, for a variety of reasons, in conditions that place them at high risk to their health, safety and wellbeing
