Health & Safety Manager - Civil Engineering

Our client is looking for an Experinced Health & Safety Manager, Develop and maintain an awareness of SHE hazards and associated risks and demonstrate a commitment to eliminate or minimise those risks; 5-10 years experience required and construction or Civil engineering experience would be proffered. Job location is in Norway.

Key Roles & Responsibility

* Demonstrate a personal commitment to the safety and health framework, policies and management system requirements and expectations;

* Develop and maintain an awareness of SHE hazards and associated risks and demonstrate a commitment to eliminate or minimise those risks;

* Understand and effectively undertake SHE accountabilities.

* To investigate accidents and ensure all documentation is updated and Implementation of any new legislation relating to health and safety.

* Facilitate all forms of risk assessment - manual handling, fire risk assessments / fire prevention

* Occupational health and safety surveys - noise, light, chemical substances and Health and safety awareness training.

* Site inspections., Toolbox talks.

* To complete prevention inspections on a regular basis and ensure records maintained of same.

* Annual H&S audits and Quality Assurance

* Ensure the company meets its obligations under the ‘Control of Major Accident Hazards Regulations’ and construction accreditations such as CHAS and Constructionline are achieved and renewed.

* Devise and improve the training matrix for all staff, carry out H&S inductions and in-house training.

* Monitoring health and safety risks and hazards in the workplace

* Advising employees on how to minimise or ultimately avoid risks and hazards in the workplace

* First aid / nursing duties

* Ensuring the business is legally compliant with all health and safety legislation and working with and training all employees to manage, monitor and improve the health and safety standards in the workplace

* Being responsible for all safety inspections in the workplace (for example, monitoring noise levels in a warehouse)

* Assisting with the creation and management of health and safety monitoring systems and policies in the workplace

* Managing emergency procedures (such as fire alarm drills) and organising emergency teams such as fire marshals and first aiders

* Offering general health and safety advice to all employees

* Liaise with external parties such as government-employed inspectors to evaluate the process of construction sites

Experiences, Skills and Behavioural Competencies :

Essential:

* General NEBOSH Certificate

* CSR Site Card

* First Aid Basic Certificate

Preferable:

* NEBOSH Fire Prevention and Risk Management Certificate

* Environmental Management Systems Qualification

* General Management Qualification

* IOSH Safety, Health and Environment for Construction Workers

The successful candidate will be based to Sotra Link project (in Norway) A 9.4 km long four-lane road to be built in Vestland county. The Sotrasambandet bridge and tunnel system comprises 19 car and pedestrian underpasses, 23 tunnel portals, 22 bridges and viaducts, new four-lane motorways and 14 km of pavements and cycle paths. About 24 km of two-lane access roads will also be built. It is expected to open on June 1, 2027
