The Chief Operating Officer is a Member of the Executive Management at EFG Bank von Ernst, with wide ranging responsibilities including Operations, Real Estate, Technology and Client Documentation. The COO team also supports a wide range of support processes including credit management, risk, compliance, and accounting. They are a key point of partnership with the EFG Group, ensuring that internally sourced support services are managed in accordance with client and regulatory requirements.

Main responsibilities

  • Working with the local CEO and Group COO function, collaborate on the formulation of the operating strategy for EFG Liechtenstein
  • Manage sourcing of key operational processes from Group functions, inncluding Operations, IT and General Services (including client account documentation)
  • Manage local IT requirements, in particular IT security and infrastructure in alignment with global functions
  • Manage local real estate requirement, working with the global General Services and Real Estate department
  • Prepare and manage budgets for all COO functions
  • Monitor the annual financial statements
  • With the support of Group Risk funnctions, implement local regulatory and Board risk reporting requirements
  • Work with Compliance to monitor and implement regulatory requirements, ensure regulatory and externnal reporting in line with relevant jurisdictions
  • Implement global regulations and directives, adapting where necessary to local requirements
  • Liaison with external tax advisors, legal advisors, auditors and bank advisors
  • Liaison with authorities (banking supervision, taxes, social insurance, etc.)

Skills and experience

  • At least 10-15 years experience in management position in a regulated bank or investment management business, in EEA and/or Switzerland
  • Experience of managing outsourced services (including intra-group) in a regulated environment
  • Experience in delivery of projects that have delivered improvements in banking or investment management processes.
  • Ability to think stragetically at executive board level and also be able to operate at a level of technical detail in understanding, supervising and controlling operational or techology processes
  • Sound experience and knowledge of Operational Risk management, including the 3 lines of defence model
  • Good financial management skills, with experience in improving efficiency and effectiveness, accounting qualification or equivvalent would be beneficial.
  • Fluent in German and English communication and presentation skills.
