Job Opportunity: Data Centre Manager

Are you ready to take on a pivotal role in our business, ensuring the smooth operation and optimisation of our Data Centre (DC)? We're seeking a passionate and driven Data Centre Manager (DCM) who thrives on leading a team to deliver exceptional service to our clients.

About the Role: As the Data Centre Manager, you will take ownership of all aspects of DC operation, overseeing a team dedicated to excellence in service delivery. Your responsibilities will include managing people, maintaining health and safety standards, overseeing budgets, and driving commercial development.

Key Responsibilities

Lead by example, embodying our company values, and provide support, training, and guidance to your team.
Ensure strict adherence to health and safety procedures and compliance standards.
Coordinate team resources to ensure uninterrupted 24/7 operations.
Develop and manage site budgets, controlling expenditure and authorisations.
Oversee maintenance procedures and contracts, optimising preventative maintenance schedules.
Drive energy efficiency initiatives and best practices within the DC.
Collaborate with stakeholders to drive new business opportunities.
Monitor and improve service management processes and incident resolution.

Additional Responsibilities

Adapt responsibilities as needed and respond to changing organisational requirements.
Handle confidential information in accordance with company policies.

Special Conditions

This role may require occasional out-of-hours work and participation in an on-call rota.
Travel between sites may be necessary, depending on location.

Person Specification: Education & Qualifications:

Degree level or equivalent in Data Centre management or relevant experience.
Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable: Data Centre management certification (e.g., CDCMP), ITIL Foundation qualification.

Experience

Previous experience in a mission-critical Data Centre environment.
Strong client-facing experience, including managing difficult situations.
Experience in people management and budget oversight.

Competencies & Skills

Enthusiastic, committed, and flexible approach to work.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think creatively.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
Desirable: Understanding of software and operating systems, passion for IT.

Knowledge

Familiarity with industry best practices for data centre services.
Technical understanding of data centre infrastructure.
Knowledge of relevant UK regulatory standards (e.g., H&S legislation, ISO 27001, 14000, PCI).
