Job Overview:We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Grower Accountant to join our team. The Grower Accountant will be responsible for managing all financial aspects related to our agricultural operations, including budgeting, forecasting, cost analysis, and reporting. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of agricultural accounting principles, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work closely with growers to ensure accurate financial reporting and analysis.
Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain financial budgets and forecasts for agricultural operations, including crop planning, labor costs, and production expenses.
Monitor and analyze grower contracts, ensuring compliance with terms and accurate recording of expenses and revenues.
Calculate and report grower payments based on crop yields, quality, and pricing agreements.
Perform cost analysis to identify areas for cost reduction and optimization of agricultural processes.
Collaborate with growers to gather relevant financial information and provide support and guidance as needed.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management, highlighting key performance metrics and variances.
Reconcile grower accounts and resolve any discrepancies or issues in a timely manner.
Assist with inventory management, including tracking crop yields, inventory valuation, and reconciliation.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards related to agricultural accounting and reporting.
Support year-end financial audit processes, providing documentation and explanations as required.
Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory changes affecting agricultural accounting practices.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with growers, providing financial insights and fostering a collaborative working environment.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Agricultural Economics, or related field.
2-5 years of experience in accounting, preferably in the agricultural industry.
Strong understanding of agricultural accounting principles, including cost accounting and farm financial management.
Proficiency in FAMOUS software.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and make recommendations.
Ability to communicate effectively with growers and other stakeholders, both verbally and in writing.
Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in financial reporting and analysis.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Experience with agricultural production processes and terminology is a plus.
Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a dynamic work environment.
