Position Overview:We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join our finance team. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for supporting various accounting functions, including general ledger maintenance, financial reporting, and accounts reconciliation. Key Responsibilities:
General Ledger Maintenance: Assist in maintaining the general ledger by recording journal entries, accruals, and adjustments as needed. Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data.
Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements. Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
Accounts Reconciliation: Reconcile bank accounts, credit card statements, and other balance sheet accounts on a regular basis. Investigate and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
Accounts Payable and Receivable: Process vendor invoices, employee expense reports, and customer payments. Ensure timely and accurate recording of transactions and proper coding to the general ledger.
Expense Analysis: Review and analyze expenses to ensure compliance with budgetary guidelines. Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
Payroll Support: Assist in processing payroll and maintaining payroll records. Verify accuracy of employee timekeeping data and resolve payroll-related inquiries.
Audit Support: Provide support during internal and external audits by preparing audit schedules, gathering documentation, and addressing auditor inquiries. Ensure compliance with audit requirements.
Tax Compliance: Assist in the preparation of tax returns and filings, including sales tax, property tax, and corporate income tax. Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations.
Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and improve efficiency. Implement changes to enhance accuracy and productivity.
Ad Hoc Projects: Support special projects and initiatives as assigned by management. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve departmental goals.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
1-3 years of experience in accounting or finance roles, preferably in a corporate environment.
Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP).
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
CPA or progress towards CPA certification is a plus.
