Job Description
While keeping safety at the forefront – oversees Electric and Instrument Shop operation to ensure efficient coordination of installations, maintenance and troubleshooting/repairs of all mill equipment while following established procedures and mill policies. Continually upgrade employee skills to meet the demands of new technology and electrical safety.  Provide for the effective and timely completion of maintenance work through coordination with other E&I supervisor, planners and operations coordinators.
Role and Responsibilities
Champions Safety in every aspect of the position
Responsible for completion of all incident investigations (Substandard Conditions, Near Miss, Injuries, Observations, etc.).
Ensure a high level of awareness and employee compliance for Pixelle’s Electrical Safety Policy, Environmental Systems Process Awareness and Compliance
Understands and administers company policies
Responsible for next level conflict resolution and maintaining needed staffing levels
Supports apprenticeship program by auditing the process
Must demonstrate good communication skills
Responsible for employee on-boarding and succession planning
Maintain effective working relationships with Operations, other Maintenance personnel, vendors, contractors and engineers. Serve as point of contact for Coordination of Contractor Activity and Vendor Visits
Work closely with Engineering, Production and other departments, at all levels of supervision, throughout the plant in making estimates, determining priorities, scheduling and managing shop personnel
Maintain awareness of work order backlog – Identify deficiencies and improvement opportunities.
Monitors daily/weekly progress of scheduled work (DCC)
Evaluates and manages the collection of job feedback to improve future work
Assist other E&I Supervisor, as needed, with daily shop operation
Is accountable to review and approve all discretionary spend in the shops along with: purchase requisitions, shipping requisitions, authority to stock, etc.
Writes and reviews purchase requisitions, reviews and approves job invoices, audits invoices and VMI activities and manages spend in the maintenance department within approved budgets
Input to Capital Budgeting process along with recommending replacements, upgrades and/or the addition of equipment to minimize maintenance costs and downtime
Input to all Outages
Demonstrates forward thinking
Must be able to handle deadlines, variable workloads and serve in supervisor rotation
Proactive in driving continuous improvement through scheduling, PM/PdM (Reliability Improvement) and 6S
Ensure shop equipment continually meets ISO standards
Executes Continuous Improvement programs; acts as a change agent.
Participates in RCFA process and drives reliability into the business.
