We are looking for a dynamic and inspiring leader to be the new Chief Data Officer (CDO) for Digital Health & Care Wales (DHCW) and a national figure across NHS Wales.

About the Role: As Chief Data Officer, you will be a visible leader at national level, and an ambassador beyond Wales, championing our ground breaking work on data platforms, standards and architecture. This is a senior position in DHCW providing professional and strategic leadership to teams across our organisation. You will work at the most senior level across NHS Wales, driving the adoption of data standards, leading the design and transition to a new modern data architecture, delivering the transformative National Data Resource programme, and shaping strategy and future roadmaps for health and care data in Wales.

Main duties of the job:

* Lead the development and implementation of strategic delivery plans for data, ensuring alignment with Welsh Government policy priorities and organisational strategies.

* Provide expert guidance on data issues, including data platforms, standards, architecture, and programs, to drive effective patient care and decision-making.

* Champion the development and promotion of data standards and information governance policies across the organisation.

* Foster stakeholder engagement at both internal and external levels, collaborating with NHS Directors, Welsh Government and other key stakeholders to advance data initiatives.

* Lead and manage a team of approximately 100 people, overseeing the planning and performance of data programmes and services.

* Act as a system leader at the national level, providing technical expertise and influencing strategic direction for health and care data in Wales.
