Business Development Director
DACH / Eastern EU Territory

We are working with a global pharmaceutical company. They are seeking a Business Development Director for the Deutschland, Austria and Switzerland (DACH) region and also Eastern EU.
The role holder will provide a deep understanding of integrated drug discovery service business development, across multiple disease and modality areas.
The scientists working here are skilled consultants with expertise across all therapeutic areas, to understand and deliver preclinical development candidates that match target product profile.
What you’ll do:
You will be working on the commercial development and securing of business opportunities within the fine chemical and pharmaceutical markets, specific to small molecule discovery and integrated studies.
This will include services in Target ID, Hit to Lead, Lead Optimisation, Clinical Development and Market Support. This is a knowledge-based service which consistently converts leads into candidates with a strong success record.
This will involve you building and continuing relationships with businesses and understanding their needs in fine chemical synthesis, and engaging them with the business as a service provider with integrated study and modality expertise, to hopefully have a seamless transition into IND submission for Investigational New Drug. At this point the company then has preclinical CRO services.
You will be enabling access to the above from clients who are seeking a one-team approach as opposed to using multiple companies working on inputs, project timelines and project costs. Our client does all of the above (and more) in-house which has significant benefits across organisation, timescales and cost control.
The network development and capturing of business opportunities will be carried out in person and by your team, at events, meetings and conferences.
We anticipate the role holder will bring already a deep knowledge of the world of drug discovery and have a good presence/cache in the market for clients to easily engage with the business.
We are seeking someone with a high level of experience in this market who will have worked in developing a good network of contacts and have a strong understanding of the way that business development in this discovery chemistry operates.
For this, you will be educated in chemistry to degree level or PhD. You will be someone working in another recognised business in this sector with a track record of success, ongoing market presence, and the ability to take on responsibilities immediately. Candidates must be fluent German and English speakers.
