Our client is a leading contractor who is in search of a forward-thinking Health and Safety Manager to join our dynamic team in Kilkenny . As the Health and Safety Manager, your responsibilities will include developing, implementing, and overseeing health and safety programs across our projects in Kilkenny, South-East Region of Ireland. The ideal candidate should possess a robust background in construction safety, a dedication to ensuring a secure working environment, and the capability to lead a team in achieving our safety objectives.
Key Responsibilities will include (but not limited to):

Lead the development of Health & Safety Leadership & Culture in the workplace.

Implement Health, Safety and Wellbeing policy in the business unit.

Ensure full compliance with local and national Health and Safety legislation pertaining to the project construction phase and offices.

Develop project-specific health & safety strategies, programmes and plans in partnership with Group Health and Safety.

Co-ordinate health and safety programme elements addressing site access, security, project induction, first aid, welfare and emergency arrangements.

Co-ordinate and manage on-site health and safety resources.

Communicate and co-ordinate the adoption of industry best practices in health and safety on all projects.

Establish a process of active health and safety monitoring through audits and inspections of site conditions and contractor activities.

Monitor and report on health and safety performance and challenges using predefined leading and lagging health and safety performance indicators.

Influence employee work practices through dialogue, relationship building and behavioural safety coaching.

Report to the Operations Manager and other forums on Health and Safety initiatives, objectives and performance.

Support projects throughout their lifecycle from proposal, through design, procurement, fabrication, construction, commissioning, handover and operational stages.

Provide specialist health, safety and wellbeing advice to management and project teams

Assure legal / regulatory compliance with respect to latest occupational safety, health and welfare requirements for the business unit.

Ensure appropriate and effective emergency response, case management, incident investigation and reporting mechanisms are in place to facilitate learning from incidents (LFI).

Qualified to support a future ISO 45001 certification process.
Key Qualifications will include:

8 years previous experience in a health and safety environment is required.

Graduated with a degree in Health and Safety Management.

NEBOSH qualification.

Member of IOSH (Institution of Occupational Safety and Health) or equivalent qualification would be an advantage.

Main contractor, Clean room, Pharmaceutical, Education and Modular construction experience is an advantage.

Knowledge of design and construction health and safety principles with proven technical skills in occupational safety and health disciplines.

Good verbal and written communication skills.

Good IT skills, particularly Word, Excel and Powerpoint.
