Job Summary: The Head Chef’s responsibilities include creating and studying recipes, setting up menus and preparing high-quality dishes. The Head Chef must be able to delegate tasks to kitchen staff in order to ensure that meals are prepared in a timely manner.




• Assign tasks and supervise chefs in the preparation and presentation of food

• Come up with new dishes which appeal to the clients, whenever required

• Check freshness of food and discard out-of-date items

• Design new recipes, plan menus and select plate presentation

• Experiment with recipes and suggest new ingredients

• Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations within the kitchen area

• Ensure appealing plate presentation; plan the food design in order to create a perfect match between the dish’s aspect and its taste

• Establish and maintain controls to minimize food waste and theft

• Evaluate food products to ensure that company quality standards are consistently attained – track food costs while managing vendors in tandem with the purchasing department, top provide cost-efficient products

• Implement and maintain Culinary Excellence Standards / Standard Operating procedures

• Inform Food & Beverage Servers about daily specials

• Maintain control of the kitchen to ensure that all tasks are carried out efficiently and effectively

• Perform administrative tasks, taking stock take of food and equipment supplies and issuing purchase orders as necessary

• Prepare necessary data for applicable parts of the budget whilst projecting annual food, labour and other costs; monitor actual financial results and take corrective action as necessary to ensure that financial targets are met

• Set up the kitchen with cooking utensils and equipment, like knives, pans and kitchen scales

• Study each recipe and gather all necessary ingredients

• Modify recipes to meet customers’ needs and requests

• Train the kitchen staff in order to provide best results in minimum time and using at the maximum the available resources

• Work with the company directors to produce diversified menus in accordance with the restaurant’s policy and vision


Qualifications & Assets:


• At least six years proven experience as chef

• Advanced knowledge of culinary, baking and pastry techniques

• Ability to remain calm and undertake various tasks

• Diploma in Culinary science or related certificate is desirable

• Exceptional proven ability of kitchen management

• Excellent time management abilities

• Familiarity with sanitation regulations

• Hands-on experience with various kitchen equipment

• Leadership skills

• Up-to-date knowledge of cooking techniques and recipes
