The Regional Development Manager will play a pivotal role in securing additional projects and infill grounds maintenance contracts to meet and exceed regional sales targets. This role involves cultivating relationships with existing and potential clients, preparing pricing and proposals for timely submission within the region, and overseeing services such as Landscape construction, Grounds Maintenance, Arboriculture, winter gritting, and minor building and civils work (e.g., fencing).
This challenging yet collaborative role focuses on securing Extra Works projects ranging from £10k to £500k and GM infill contracts up to £200k per annum. The successful candidate will thrive under pressure and meet challenging deadlines.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Sales Achievement:
* Achieve regional annual EW and Infill sales targets.
* Retain current regional contracts.
* Proactively build client relationships to maintain a strong pipeline and win rate.
* Support Preferred Supplier Relationships with Tier 1s to quote for new contracts.
Process:
* Ensure the timely delivery of compliant bids, quotes, proposals, and tenders.
* Develop the written proposal, enhancing both content and presentation.
* Utilise pricing tools for accurate and competitive pricing.
* Ensure relevant sign-off.
* Maintain up-to-date information in the CRM system.
Pipeline Management:
* Maintain a forward pipeline of opportunities for the next 12 months, collaborating with key members of the Regional team.
* Actively manage the routes to market.
* Keep the business informed as opportunities progress.
Marketing:
* Attend marketing events and support content creation, including case studies and award nominations.
Qualifications or Required Experience:
Essential:
* Operational experience in the Grounds Maintenance industry.
* Commercial acumen.
* Ability to build and develop lasting relationships with clients and operations.
* Proven negotiation skills.
* Self-motivated and capable of working to strict time deadlines.
* Proven ability to organically win new work with new and existing customers.
* Strong team player.
* Attention to detail with a focus on maintaining high standards and accuracy.
* Confident and articulate in all communications, including face-to-face, telephone, and written communications.
* Highly competent in MS Office software.
* Driving Licence – daily travel to customer sites.
Desirable:
* Previous sales experience.
* Business development and public sector bid experience.
* QS qualifications
