Position Overview:
We are seeking a driven, career-minded individual to fill the position of Geotechnical Project Engineer. The Geotechnical Project Engineer will be responsible for managing clients and projects, supervising the preparation of geotechnical engineering reports, calculations, and special inspections.
Location:
Plainfield, NJ office, with occasional travel throughout the tri-state area.
Responsibilities:
* Utilize lab and field equipment for soil evaluations
* Perform geotechnical field investigations and construction inspections
* Prepare detailed site inspection reports
* Conduct technical research and develop engineering solutions
* Prepare technical reports, memos, and recommendations
* Develop geotechnical designs from concept through final stages
* Maintain client relations and manage project budgets
* Coordinate with team members and subcontractors
* Train entry-level staff
* Write and review proposals
* Procure subcontractors for support during investigations/design
* Review contracts and approve subconsultant/vendor contracts
* Prepare project schedules and ensure deadlines are met
* Review drawing sets and calculation packages
* Ensure quality assurance and quality control
* Approve time and expense sheets for field staff
* Handle invoicing and project financial reporting
Experience:
* B.S. in Civil, Geotechnical, or related engineering field
* Professional Engineering license (P.E.)
* 6+ years of experience
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and AutoCAD
* Experience with gINT geotechnical engineering software
* Knowledge of LRFD/ASD design and analysis software
* Familiarity with Deltek accounting software
* Experience in below-grade wall and foundation analysis
* Experience in geotechnical and construction special inspections
* Strong communication and design skills
* Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
* Background check required
Preferences:
* M.S. in Civil, Geotechnical, or related engineering field
* Project management experience
