At John Crane we are looking for a Lead Engineer PMO who is to lead the evaluation and organises the adherence to the techical requirements in complex orders, support the sales/bid team during quotation & drives overall order execution. He/she makes a review of relevant specifications and the internal documentation and instructions, coordinates project related work at engineering, on time submission of complete and error free documentation. He /She is to liase, support and engages with both internal & external customers, acts as a technical station during customer and supplier meetings.

The role is based in Arnhem, with flexible working arrangements.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to sales engineers during project bid stage and participate in project kick off meetings
  • Evaluate common industry and customer norms and standards and document impact for product design and order execution
  • Support engineering team with expert review on product and material compliance documentation
  • Review project specifications and maintain and control deviation and exception list
  • Create, maintain and distribute order progress reports (e.g. GANTT chart) to stakeholders
  • Manage vendor document requirement list and review engineering output for completeness and accuracy
  • Manage customer change requests
  • Manage order progress inline with customer expectations, initiate escalation meetings when off track
  • Organize registration of orders and revisions in I-project
  • Maintain project documentation, correspondence and progress in project digi folders, in SAP and Iprojects
  • Support sales teams as technical subject matter expert in customer meetings
  • Drives & supports order execution through planning, procurement, production and quality excellence.
  • Support development of center of excellence and other continous improvement projects.

The Individual

  • Master's degree (or Bachelor's with additional 3years experience) in mechanical engineering, process engineering or similar field.
  • At least few years' experience in a project/lead engineering role with demonstrated ability to take on complex engineering projects.
  • Proven responsibility in project execution.
  • Experience of working in a multinational and multicultural environment.
  • Excellent communicator with strong collaboration skills.
  • Experience with pressure vessel design standards, material specifications and industrial design standards is required.
  • Experience in the Oil & Gas, Powergen or Polymer industry would be an advantage.
  • Knowledge of 3D design software is an advantage, a proficiency in MS Office and an ERP package, preferably SAP.
  • Passionate to meet objectives under challenging conditions with strong focus on solutions and can-do mentality.
  • Fluent in English. German/ Dutch is preferred.
  • Certification and Experience in project management is nice to have.
