Would you like to help our analysts get the most from business intelligence systems? 

Warwickshire Police are looking for someone passionate and experienced in business intelligence to join the team as a Systems and Data Analyst. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop creative solutions from our performance and analysis systems. 

Ideally you will be passionate about data and have experience in managing performance reporting systems and working closely with data analysts to extract and present different types of data. The core system we currently use is SAP Business Objects and ideally you will have experience and understanding in this system or similar performance reporting software.  

The main purpose of the role is to manage and develop key analysis and performance systems on behalf of the department to ensure maximum effectiveness and value is derived from our technological platform.

Main Responsibilities:

Ensure the day to day running of key management information systems used within the department, working closely with digital services to ensure reliability of system access.

Support deployment of data to users through enhancing self-serve and ensuring consistency, effectiveness and efficiency in the delivery of analytical products. Work closely with analysts to translate data into engaging visualisations and interactive reports which get used in decision-making at all levels. 

Facilitate and lead on requirements gathering and solution design for supporting A&SI staff to get the most from our software solutions. This may require the quick delivery of smaller pieces of development work to better realise value for analysts. 

Provide technical guidance, support, training and assistance in the use of performance systems and access to information.

On behalf of the department lead on liaison with digital services and suppliers to ensure A&SI core applications complement the wider technical architecture, translating requirements and supporting access to data e.g. requirements for Business Objects universe development. 

Ensure up to date knowledge on the key functional capabilities that can be delivered through our performance management systems.

Champion data availability and data integrity, including process mapping to ensure end to end understanding on data within the performance management systems  

Implement and test software upgrades and patches in collaboration with ICT. 

Ensure appropriate security and access permissions are maintained. 

Support the delivery of regular reporting to internal and external stakeholders and move to automation where possible. 

Undertake other duties commensurate with the nature, level of responsibility and grading of this post, including cover for colleagues, as required. 



Degree/ level 5 qualification in information technology/ management information/ statistics or equivalent business experience
Knowledge of information systems/business intelligence systems.
Knowledge of Business Objects
Working knowledge of statistical formulae and the presentation of data in tabular and graphical form.

Experience of managing performance systems/data and providing data, management and performance information to support organisational change and improvement

Experience of working with propriety data analysis tools such as Business Objects and extracting and analysing data in Windows based products including Word and Excel. 

Experience of the IBM Ibase product suite would be desirable

Key Skills:
will be the ability to work with technical but also non-technical colleagues and being able to explain technical terms on a relatable level

Excellent numerical skills and proven ability to assimilate, analyse and present statistical data and management information

Excellent IT skills, including the use of Microsoft packages and performance management software (Business Objects and IBM Ibase are two key systems used)
Good communication skills
Project and time management skills
Proven ability to progress multiple work assignments with minimal supervision.
