We are currently recruiting for a Residential Care Officer to join a fantastic team of supportive and experienced colleagues making a positive impact on the lives. This position is:
* Temporary
* Full time - 37 hours per week
Key Responsibilities
* Providing a warm, caring and enabling environment to meet the emotional, social and physical needs of looked after children and young people with disabilities and challenging behaviour.
* Working on day shifts including weekends and bank holidays.
* Ensuring the safety and well being of individuals in your care
* Assisting with daily living tasks, such as personal hygiene and meal preparation
* Maintaining accurate records and reports
Requirements
* Required to undertake Level 3 Diploma in Residential Care. To comply with Children's Homes Regulations, the diploma must be completed within two years of the commencement in post.
* Have an understanding of Health and Safety.
* Have knowledge and understanding of the impact of neglect, emotional, physical and sexual abuse has on young people.
* Have knowledge and understanding of the impact a disability has on a young person.
* Proficient information and IT skills to enable effective communication with internal and external agencies.
* The post holder will be expected to be able to apply theory to practice.
* To be a key team player and work closely with staff members and specialist workers from other agencies and organisations.
* The Postholder will require excellent written and oral communication.
* Ability to produce and maintain accurate records and reports.
* Knowledge of child development.
* Knowledge of Safeguarding and risk management.
* Positive attitude to the promotion of diversity and equal opportunities.
* Post holders should be comfortable working with ambiguity and uncertainty.
* In accordance with Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 (Fluency Duty), the ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English.
* To hold a full current valid driving license
