Assistant Manager

About the role

We are looking for an individual to support our Village Manager in the running of the business but also to bring fresh ideas to our commercial team and a forward-thinking attitude.

Other day to day responsibilities include

Responsible for all aspects of the commercial business, including working with existing managers to ensure that all staff training is completed
Event Planning including working with the event lead, sous chef, and other companies.
Involvement in ensuring day to day compliance procedures are up to date including all kitchen paperwork is completed
Stock ordering including sourcing new products
Working in all areas of the business including Kitchen, bar, bistro, functions and also office/admin jobs where required

About You

Must be passionate and Knowledgeable of a retirement village and hospitality settings including so a good understanding of these areas is key
Will have an eagerness to learn and bring fresh ideas to the business 
Will be happy to work in all aspects of the business and won’t be afraid to get their hands dirty with our Estates Team who look after the general day to day running of Oaklands
Take pride in the products they are selling/serving to the residents and public
Will be able to communicate calmly and effectively towards both staff and customers
Be able to delegate tasks to other staff members to ensuring the smooth running of the shift
Maintain high levels of cleanliness
Have a good understanding of budgets, cost control, stock ordering, stock taking, and tight cash controls are key
Opening and closing the Business
Be able to motivate and support the team
Be well organised
Be able to multitask and think on your feet
Work within licensing, health and safety policies, safeguarding, hygiene and other regulations pertaining to the operation of the venue.
