Job Title: Learning Support Assistant (SEN)
Location: SEN School, Leicester
Position: Full-time/Part-time
Salary: £90 - £100 per day
Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant (SEN) to join a dynamic team with our partnered SEN school in Leicester. The successful candidate will be educated to at least a Level 3 qualification and will have significant experience working with children with severe learning difficulties. This role involves supporting either primary or secondary aged students with high needs, helping them to achieve their educational and personal goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Individual and Group Support: Provide tailored support to students with severe learning difficulties, both individually and in small groups, to help them access the curriculum and achieve their full potential.
Personal Care: Assist with personal care needs as required, including toileting, feeding, and mobility, ensuring the dignity and comfort of students at all times.
Behavior Management: Implement positive behavior management strategies to support students in their social and emotional development, and to create a safe and productive learning environment.
Educational Support: Work closely with teachers to deliver and adapt lesson plans, materials, and activities to meet the specific needs of each student, including those with complex needs.
Communication: Foster effective communication with students, parents, and other professionals, providing regular updates on student progress and contributing to Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and other assessments.
Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and confidential records of student progress, behavior, and other relevant information, reporting any concerns to the designated SENCO or appropriate staff member.
Professional Development: Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in SEN practice and ensure best practices are followed.
Key Requirements:
Education: A Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent is essential.
Experience: Proven experience working with children with severe learning difficulties, preferably in a primary or secondary school setting.
Skills: Strong communication skills, patience, empathy, and the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
Knowledge: Understanding of SEN policies, procedures, and best practices, including knowledge of various communication and behavior management strategies.
Personal Attributes: A compassionate and resilient individual who is able to remain calm and supportive in challenging situations.
Desirable Qualifications:
Additional training or qualifications in specific SEN areas, such as autism spectrum disorders or challenging behavior.
