The Role:
As an Estimator, you'll play a crucial role in our operations, carrying out take-offs, bills of quantities, cost plans, and tenders for a range of clients including, sub-contractors, developers, and private clients. Prior experience in an estimating role along with familiarity with industry standards will be beneficial, coupled with a strong drive to continuously expand your knowledge and advance further in your career journey.
Key Responsibilities Include:
* Setting up estimation files upon receiving inquiries, whether digitally or in hard copy, and carefully organising any subsequent documents or additions.
* Completing tenders on behalf of our clients based on architectural, structural engineer, and other specialist drawings, plans and specifications.
* Keeping detailed records organised and easily accessible to help with managing projects effectively.
* Establishing connections with various individuals across the tendering process including suppliers, subcontractors and specialists to allow smooth collaboration from enquiry to contracts award.
* Proactively chasing suppliers, subcontractors, and manufacturer quotations to advance the tendering process.
* Performing accurate take-offs for various residential and commercial projects, utilising measuring take-off tools and software for precision.
* Executing assigned estimating tasks with precision and attention to detail.
* Competently discussing projects with clients providing professional opinions and insight to the industry.
* Accurately making revisions for projects based on client feedback and notes whilst providing any relevant professional industry advice and opinions
* Discussing and establishing potential value engineering regarding projects to aid clients in meeting budgets
* Handling incoming telephone calls, managing messages or redirections as required to maintain clear communication.
* Undertaking additional general support and administration duties as required to uphold operational efficiency.
* Providing support and assistance to colleagues and the accounts team, fostering a culture of teamwork and mutual support.
The Ideal Candidate:
We’re seeking a candidate with a good understanding of building and construction, exceptional organisation skills, and the ability to work under pressure. Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills are essential, along with attention to detail and a practical, hands-on approach to work. The ability to manage time effectively and complete tasks to strict deadlines will also be critical within this role.
