Astute's Power team is partnering with a large sugar production company to recruit a Development Engineering Lead for its site in Bury St Edmunds.

The Development Engineering Lead role comes with a starting salary of up to £58,000 + benefits.

Responsibilities and duties

Reporting to the APU Engineering Lead you will:

Split your time between carrying out maintenance, overseeing technicians, and developing management skills.
Lead, develop, and motivate the engineering team to maximise efficiency and performance.
Offer engineering assistance to ensure safety, reliability, and production align with site standards.
Monitor engineering progress, advocate for holistic decision-making, and provide necessary updates.
Supervise team members and contractors to uphold quality, environmental, and safety standards.
Take charge of maintenance processes on site.
Ensure on-budget delivery of the APU gap maintenance plan, with support from leaders and the Engineering Support team.
Lead both responsive and pre-emptive engineering tasks, ensuring compliance and implementing best practices.
Ensure correct routines and PPM's are in place by collaborating with subject matter expects.
Set an example by showing high levels of health and safety on site and ensure team members perform activities effectively and safely.
Serve as Acting APU Engineering Lead during absences.

Professional qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:

NVQ Level 3 or higher in a relevant engineering subject such as mechanical or electrical.
4+ years' experience working in a similar heavy process environment such as FMCG.
High levels of industry knowledge, particularly pertaining to British Standards for Engineering Plant, Equipment and Practises.
Experience leading teams.
Experience delivering maintenance improvement plans in a similar environment.
Experience managing budgets.
