Head of Trade Compliance
As a Head of Trade Compliance, you will be leading all aspects of trade compliance. Reporting directly to the General Counsel, you will also oversee the management of the trade compliance team. 
A solid background in trade compliance, particularly import/export processes, is essential. 
Experience with UK and US export controls is a must.

Key Responsibilities
* Ensure that processes related to imports and exports of goods meet the requirements of the Chemring Group Export Control Policy and UK/US Export Control legislation are met.
* Provide specialist advice as required to ensure projects are compliant and project delivery follows internal and external standards/requirements.
* Manage risk identification and support management; audit and assurance activities (internal and external); timely investigation and reporting of potential violations to internal stakeholders and relevant Government regulators.
* Collaboration with all functions within the business to ensure all stakeholders are fully aware of their responsibilities in relation to trade compliance.
* Collaboration with external stakeholders, including suppliers, to ensure compliance requirements are fully understood and met.
* Maintain effective relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure that export control is managed effectively and efficiently as well as with regulators. (e.g. UK Department for International Trade, ECJU, HMRC, US State Department, US Department of Commerce).
* Work with relevant stakeholders to drive change and influence the introduction, application and review of policies and processes for the future.
The Key Requirements...
* Experience in UK Export controls and US ITAR controls are essential. 
* Experience of managing and administering an export compliance business system (with a thorough understanding of both UK and US export control requirements).
* Internal Audit Experience
* Strong experience of providing sound pragmatic advice to stakeholders and senior leaders. 
* The ability to think strategically and creatively, see risk in a wider context and be able to advise with confidence accordingly. 
* Excellent writing skills sufficient to creatively and precisely articulate ideas and opinions that involve analysis, interpretation, and assessment.

Where you’ll work…
ROMSEY -  Alongside hybrid and flexible working options, you’ll find our Romsey site located within beautiful Hampshire countryside, close to the picturesque New Forest District and not far from a superb stretch of the south coast. This is no corporate concrete jungle; this is a manor house site, with ample parking an on-site gym and a driveway full of daffodils in the spring.
