Job Summary
Due to an internal promotion, we have an exciting opportunity for a Multi-Skilled Engineer to join our team at Agrial Fresh Produce in Wigan. The primary accountability is to provide safe and highly reliable equipment to manufacturing colleagues, achieved through a healthy balance of hands-on competence, equipment knowledge, analysis of equipment performance and strong communication skills.

Working hours: 2 day, 2 nights, 4 on 4 off. 07:00 to 19:00, 19:00 to 07:00.

Agrial Fresh Produce is one of three UK food manufacturing factories who are owned by the French co-operative group, Agrial. Agrial has operations across 18 regions with 280 farming outlets and it's not just about lettuce!

As well as the 3 factories we also have a farming operation – Agrial Fresh Farms. All UK sites operate under the name of Agrial Fresh Produce Limited and fall under Agrial's vegetable division. The business is more recognisable in the UK by its Florette salad brand and we are now one of the UK’s leading producers in the industry. We have a recipe for success through our EPIC values and working together as one team. Our Wigan site is a well-established business unit that processes and distributes pre-packed, ready to eat, fresh salad bags and bowls to some of the UK's well-known retailers and restaurants. We are based on Martland Park Industrial Estate, which is ideal for travel on the M61, M6 and M62.

Main Responsibilities

* Execute hands-on planned and unplanned maintenance activities to agreed standards, ensuring safe working always.

* Ensure assets are ready to produce products that are of an excellent quality, dispatched on time in full to customers.

* Ensure a robust and clearly communicated safe system of work is applied for all activities that you undertake – properly risk assessed.

* Coach, train and give understanding to production colleagues to achieve continual improvements in equipment knowledge/performance.

* Act with integrity always to build a culture of professional engineering and proactive equipment-focussed continuous improvement.

Skills and Experience Required

* Technical hands-on Engineering experience, preferably through recognised time-served apprenticeship within food manufacturing.

* Technical qualifications and competence in BTEC Engineering certificate/equivalent qualification.

* Broad knowledge of Hydraulics, Pnuematics, Electrical & PLC/Inverter Assets.

* Skills and capability to logically diagnose and fault find on a variety of equipment/situations.

* Experience of risk assessing maintenance activity and controlling safe working regulations.

* Strong evidence of good interpersonal, communications and customer engagement skills.
