Our client is a thriving manufacturing business with global reach, hiring for an exciting leadership role within their R&D team!

What will the role involve?

Managing a highly respected R&D team responsible for diversifying the business' core product offering
Identifying and exploring new commercial opportunities for the business through new products or alternative applications of existing technology
Assessing both the commercial and technical viability of new business opportunities / technologies
Engaging internal stakeholders to gain buy-in and support for new projects from other departments within the business
Collaborating extensively with external partners such as spin out or start up companies, universities and relevant government agencies, to establish mutually beneficial partnerships, secure funding and facilitate research projects
National and international business travel as required

You will ideally have…

Technical knowledge or academic background in Physical Sciences (such as Materials Science, Physics or Chemistry)
Experience working with coating technology (e.g. vacuum, liquid or wet coating) would be an advantage but not essential
Proven commercial acumen with the ability to assess commercial viability of new projects, products or business concepts
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to present highly complex technical information to non-technical audiences
Honed influencing and stakeholder engagement skills

This exciting role will suit a motivated, self-starter with an entrepreneurial mindset, who is comfortable taking the initiative, engaging with a variety of internal and external stakeholders and driving new projects forward!

Applicants must also be willing to undertake national / international travel as required for the role.
