Ironstone Recrutment are looking for an experienced Senior Residential Support Worker to work with Children&Young People in a well established Residential Care provision based in Rochdale.

As the Senior Residential Support Worker, you will mentor, support and coach new team members and draw upon your experience to manage any challenges that may arise; no two days are the same. For our children you will provide emotional support, establish strong relationships, boundaries and routines, and create a warm and nurturing home environment. You will promote each child and young person’s needs, champion them, and support them to fulfil their potential. Whether this means getting involved in cooking, sports, outdoor adventures, music, or even getting a manicure, you will engage the children, open them up to new experiences and nurture their self-esteem and confidence.

We will train and develop you so you can deliver our therapeutic model to support and care for our children in the best way possible.

The successful candidate will have:

A good understanding of the Children’s Home Regulations and Quality standards.A good understanding of the Ofsted process and good knowledge of all current Children’s Legislation.Some knowledge around the needs of children and young people with EBD/SEMH/CSE and the support services required to ensure their needs are fully met.Strong communication skills with an ability to lead on shift.Good character and integrity with resilience that matches the demands of this challenging role.

Essential Requirements:

Level 3 Diploma or equivalent in Children and Young People’s Workforce

Full UK Driving Licence

Flexibility to work on a rota basis including sleep ins.

At least 2 years’ experience in the Residential Children’s Services sector or have worked in a similar setting working with children with challenging behaviour.

At least 1 years’ experience of leading shifts in a children’s residential setting.

You must undertake our Crisis prevention institute training. This training provides you with fundamental knowledge around understanding trauma, de-escalation techniques, communication skills and safety interventions, inclusive of restrictive holds. Due to the trauma and past experiences of the children we work with, it can sometimes be difficult for them to regulate their emotions and behaviour, which can require the use of restrictive holds. As part of the role, you will be expected to carry out these safety interventions safely which can be physically demanding for extended periods of time.
