Process Development Manager (18-month FTC)

Merseyside

£40k to £44k plus up to 10% bonus

What will this role achieve?

* Lead and implement specific process development projects to implement new products, manufacturing & technology change and CBR for the factory.

* Lead and implement continuous improvement initiatives which deliver sustained improvements in process consistency, efficiency, and consumer satisfaction

* Lead the technical support function for the site to ensure rapid deployment of resources and expertise to keep manufacturing lines running to the required operational standards, and to the correct quality standards. Our client operates in a highly competitive market within both the branded and private-label sectors

* Effective and timely delivery of CBR and NPD are essential to transforming the company’s competitive position. Equally importantly, the client must be able to manufacture its existing portfolio consistently to the highest levels of quality and efficiency to achieve the sustained consumer satisfaction and low-cost base that are needed to deliver truly sustainable profitable growth. The geographical expansion of our client to supply growing markets around the world means that skills, know-how and products must all be demonstrated across the Group to develop successfully and maintain a competitive advantage. * n addition, the transfer of production from one factory/plant to another and the successful implementation of new production facilities are vital to be able to support the capacity and flexibility requirements of the manufacturing base.

* As part of the new strategy implementation, a new Process Development team is being created, which will integrate all site-based Technical and central Process Development teams.

* Reporting to the Lead Process Development Manager, the Process Development Manager is a key role within the Process Development team, which will provide a strong focus on delivering technical excellence through the practical application of the manufacturing know-how and developments in process technology.

* The role will play an important part in raising the technical capabilities of site-based Process teams and other functions at the site needed to support the move towards world-class manufacturing standards.

* This factory-based role demands sound skills and experience in all aspects of food manufacturing, ensuring that rapid, accurate and appropriate decisions are made. concerning changes to process technology and operating methods in site-based operations, product transfers, and technical risk. In addition to strong Technical know-how, the adoption and application of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma principles and sound project management will be key to achieve the required purpose of the role.

* To ensure that Process Improvement work is targeted towards generating results of real business value, a sound understanding of the financial measuring & reporting controls within Operations is also required along with the capability to analyse the cause and effect of multiple component processes within the client’s operations.

What will be your key deliverables?

* Lead and implement specific initiatives to deliver the introduction of NPD and CBR within the Process Development Team, ensuring all projects meet time, cost and quality constraints

* Provides ‘hands-on’ technical support to continuous improvement initiatives at the site; both day-to-day issues and longer-term initiatives, ensuring the causes are made visible and appropriate interventions to prevent recurrence are captured in standard operating procedures.

* Sees opportunities for continuous process improvements and develops justifications for capital investment

* Implements innovations to manufacturing process technology developed in partnership with central technical/process teams, to keep the site at the pioneering of industry developments.

* Implements effective and efficient planning, management and reporting of all factory trials relating to CBR, NPD, Procurement, and Continuous Improvement initiatives.

* Applies Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma tools, techniques and principles to drive Technical excellence across all site operations, including the continuous improvement of performance and product quality.

* Implements a programme of improvement and standardisation to plant methods, technology and practices necessary to enhance and harmonise the standards of site Technical Operations.

* Ensures compliance with Health and Safety care of substances hazardous to health (COSSH),

* Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) and product specifications at all times during trials.

* Develops process specifications for the site’s product range in line with the plant's actual capability and completed all product changes and launches

Experience Required

* Systems training

* Technical Systems

* Microsoft Office

* SAP Planning

* Managing and reviewing factory trials

* Basic Food Hygiene Working knowledge of HACCP systems
