Introduction

The BIM Manager’s role is to manage and communicate how BIM will affect project workflows, deliverables and project management throughout Dandara Living’s portfolio right through from RIBA 1 to 7. The primary responsibility is to manage and coordinate BIM standards development, implementation, and enforcement on all files and models relating to BIM projects, for both our development and construction activities. This will include the development and management of a work plan/roadmap for the project, management and implementation and quality assurance checks needed for full BIM integration through diarised workshops and DTM’s. Responsibilities will also extend to supporting internal teams on design briefs, specifications and standard layouts.

What you will do

General

Responsibility for developing and implementing BIM workflow and driving standard usage of BIM and Revit within and outside Dandara Living and maintain and issue the Employer’s Information Requirements (EIR).
Support project start-up coordination, helping teams develop strategies for effective delivery of quality information, and setup each project correctly as per EIR.

Software

Coordinate with IT department the selection of BIM software products, including but not limited to licensing compliance, incorporating new version releases, maintaining legacy software and customising software for specific firm needs.
Manage the implementation of supporting software and plug-ins for BIM.
Evaluate new BIM related software and technology.
Stay informed on best practices for use of Revit, other Autodesk software, and BIM.
Stay informed on other BIM related software products and their interaction with Revit.
Ability to use Dynamo, 3DS Max and Python for automation.
Support external parties with BIM-related software setup to ensure cross-party project integration.

Standards

Responsible for BIM standards development, implementation, and enforcement, including management and control of the EIR document.
Creation and maintenance of the template files to required standards.
Provide support for plotting and electronic file submissions.
Automate routines in BIM to support standards and productivity.
Provide quality control for completeness and adherence to company standards of all drawings and models produced.
Assist in developing and enforcing BIM documentation and workflow process standards.
Train and oversee the day-to-day activities of internal and external BIM users to ensure BIM standards are maintained, as per the EIR, in the creation of models.

Support

Provide appropriate and BIM-relevant hardware and network support.
Support the BIM technology needs of a multi-office company.
Liaison with vendors, software developer support staff and other support channels.
Attend DTM’s and workshops, as required to ensure the project team are meeting the required deliverables and quality standards and provide support where any shortfalls are identified.

Training

Provide fundamental and intermediate training to Dandara Living staff on all relevant BIM software, through a training program incorporating large groups, project teams and individualised training methods, as required.
Provide technical orientation/onboarding to new hires regarding BIM tools.
Attend conferences, seminars, and workshops for BIM, bringing back best practices and disseminating the information to appropriate teams.

Interface
Assist project teams in BIM project setup, project work modelling and detailing.
Assist/create Revit families in response to project needs, where applicable.
Create project schedules with content.
Help resolve BIM design issues.
Manage and distribute coordinated digital documents to the project team.
Coordinate necessary hardware upgrades with IT.
Communicate with subcontractors to receive, coordinate and update all electronic models.
Link BIM to the project construction phase for submittals, construction models (including 4D, where required), construction drawings and schedules.

What you will have

Past demonstrable experience in managing BIM environments for other developers or in a consultancy role for large scale, ideally residential-led projects.
Fully conversant with Revit, Autodesk Construction Cloud and knowledge of ASite would be advantageous.
Knowledge of general rendering software and 3DS Max would also be advantageous.
Experience of previous line management would be beneficial.
4D modelling experience would be advantageous, including working with site teams and understanding of construction programmes and sequencing.
Past experience of setting up and managing a BIM department, including production and implementation of processes would be beneficial.
Practical knowledge of COBIe data and how it is used and leveraged for facilities management benefit
