The opportunity:

We have an excellent opportunity for a Solicitor to join our team at Markel Law in our Manchester office. The role will join our Crime & Regulatory team where we can offer you great progression and additional training. Markel Law LLP is an independent SRA authorised and regulated legal business offering services to both insured and non-insured clients. We are expert in legal services and specialise in civil litigation, employment disputes and crime/regulatory law. Our legal advice line helps over 200,000 callers every year and our award winning Law Hub is used by thousands of businesses daily.

Our clients and business partners comprise businesses, high net worth individuals, and associations across a broad spectrum of industries. We operate out of offices in Manchester, London and Croydon and employ over 60 specialist solicitors. Our legal teams guide, support, defend and protect clients through a wide range of key legal services.

What you'll be doing:

Represent and advise insured and private clients primarily in relation regulatory including matters involving CQC/Ofsted, professional discipline, licensing and health and safety
Be capable of running your own caseload and assisting on more complex matters by researching issues, drafting advice on public and regulatory law points
Maintain files, liaise with clients/insurers to obtain instructions and documentation as appropriate
Provide opinions of prospects of success keeping accurate records and time recording in an appropriate manner
Strong client care skills
Support the regulatory team and other areas of the business where necessary
Regularly bill, prepare forecasts and account financially to clients and insurers in relation to ongoing cases
Monitor performance against budget and ensure work is done within scope price and to any relevant SLA's
Ensure that all regular requirements, outcomes and conduct is as required by Markel and the SRAOur must haves:

Be a lawyer with experience in regulatory, business crime, public and or professional discipline law
Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or F.CILEx with relevant experience
Demonstrate first class client care and communication skills across all levels
Demonstrate an excellent attention to detail and accurate case management skills
First class written communication skills and a passion for your subject area is also desired
Effective colleague, demonstrate positive and co-operative interaction with team members in a successful collegiate environment
Experience using Partner 4 Windows (P4W) would be beneficial
Excellent technically - should be adept at picking up new systemsWho we are:
