*    30 hours per week, term time + 5 training days
*    SCP 7 - 11, £24,294 - £25,979 per annum pro rata

About the role:

This Cover Supervisor position is a great opportunity for graduates or teaching assistants who are looking to gain experience in a secondary school to progress in their career.

Typical duties will include:

*    explaining and supervising the work that has been set whilst covering for absent teachers;
*    managing the behaviour of pupils & maintaining a constructive working environment;
*    responding to pupils’ questions and dealing with any immediate problems or emergencies according to the school’s policies and procedures;
*    collecting completed work after the lesson and returning it to the appropriate teacher;
*    reporting back using the school’s agreed referral procedures on the behaviour of pupils during lessons, and any issues arising;
*    assisting with the work of the pastoral support team when cover is not needed.

The successful applicant will:

*    have a desire to shape the lives of young people by providing a consistent standard of education;
*    be flexible enough to supervise children in a varied number of curriculum areas;
*    have good communication skills with the ability to connect and engage young people;
*    be able to respond quickly in a pressured situation.
