Are you experienced in supporting people with autism at a senior level?

Could you be the person who makes a real change in the quality of life of a young person with autism?

If the answer is yes, then we need you to join our team of autism practitioners

Randtad are supporting one young person with autism and complex needs in their own tenancy, providing specialised 24 hour care on a 2-1 basis. We are recruiting a whole team who will work on a 2 on 2 off or 3 on 3 off rolling rota. As part of this we need some excellent senior practitioners who can support the team and offer stability to the young person.

The young person can display aggression at times and needs to be supported with deascalation. However, in general they have a lovely nature and are very sociable. They have limited verbal capacity and use visual aids to support their communication.

A successful senior autism practitioner will be responsible for:

- Working effectively as part of a team of autism practitioners

- Providing 24 hours care to a vulnerable young person

- Creating good daily and weekly routines offering a range of stimulating activities

- Maintaining professional manner and working to National Care Standards

- Working to a flexible schedule, including night shifts, weekends and bank holidays and Christmas period

To be successful in your application, you will:

- Have previous experience working in a care setting with children or adults with autism

- Have good knowledge of autism spectrum disorder

- Have strong communication skills- Makaton, BSL and experience with picture cards desirable but not essential

- Register under the PVG scheme

- Full driving licence

- Obtained, or working towards SVQ level 3 in Health and Social Care, or equivalent desirable
