This position offers the opportunity to play a crucial role in enhancing vehicle performance through innovative dynamics and modelling.
As a Senior Vehicle Dynamicist, you will be integral to the development and implementation of dynamic systems and models that shape the performance of the race cars.
Your responsibilities as a Senior Vehicle Dynamicist:
* Develop and refine vehicle dynamics models using the in-house modelling language, focusing on performance enhancements and robustness.
* Continuously evaluate model correlation with track data and subsystem rig tests, enhancing simulation accuracy and real-world applicability.
* Lead the development of simulation tools and techniques that maximise the potential of the simulation infrastructure.
* Coordinate and propose comprehensive physical tests for both components and full-scale vehicles, supporting race engineering and setup optimisation.
* Contribute to the initial concept, design, and development phases in collaboration with the Design and Aerodynamics groups.
* Maintain effective communication and promote teamwork across departments to ensure alignment and foster productive relationships.
Your current experience which will help you as a Senior Vehicle Dynamicist:
* A bachelor’s degree in Physics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, with a Master’s or PhD preferred.
* Minimum of five years’ experience in vehicle dynamics within motorsport or a performance-focused role in mainstream automotive engineering.
* Proficient in programming with MATLAB or Python, with experience in multi-body physical modelling (Modelica, SimScape) considered a plus.
* Strong background in using simulation tools for race car setup and performance analysis, including familiarity with the McLaren Electronic Systems tool chain.
* Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in a time-sensitive environment.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of working collaboratively across all levels of the organisation.
